Auto Update doesn't seem to be working anymore.
Now it just says "Update required" even for games with automatic updates enabled. I know how to update them manually, but it sucks to have one of Steam's perks suddenly stop working.

Are you part of teh steam client beta
No. I thought I was, but I checked again and it says, "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs"
I'll set it to "Steam Beta Update" and see what happens.

This has been happening randomly for months. Happens a lot with Dota 2, CS:GO, Payday 2 and a few other games. Some games never do it. Seems to be CEG related.
Satoru 16/dez./2013 às 19:27
It just happeend to me on Payday2 but I've never seen this happen previously though...

Mine is set to BETA, everything working normally :D:

If u have multiple apps/games awaiting downloads/updates I think it will only do one at a time. Look under Library > Downloads to see what's listed there. If something else is downloading and u are not too worried about that one at the moment, pause all the downloads, then click resume on the one most important to u.

Nope. It is a random bug that has been happening for months now. When you update 25 computers you tend to see it a lot. It has nothing to do with other games downloading. If you are in your library it is going to show up as already updated. You have to either keep closing and relaunching or verify the files before the game will patch.

Well verify game cache is only way to know for sure that the game files are all intact, repaired, updated.

But yea if it's just randomly not updating as u say, that is rather annoying to say the least.

Similarly, I do. Frustrating. Valve plase fix steam.

Nearly a year later, still annoying to have to go to my downloads and click "move to top of queue" manually when auto updates are supposedly enabled
Karstaag 31/out./2014 às 8:26
Yeah it's not working for me either.

Some here, I thought it was just me! Can't find a setting anywhere to change, everything says "automatic" but, I have Steam installed on 3 machines and all 3 do the same thing. Game has a patch, it says "Update Queued" but then doesn't ever download any of them. I got to Manage Downloads and see a queue but nothing downloads until I manually click on one of the updates to force it to start downloading. I have no time restrictions set on when Steam can download stuff, all these games are set to update automatically, I even tried turning on the option to download updates while I was playing games. Still have to manually download every game patch/update. Lame!

Yup as Taron stated above, it just happened to my Steam client recently and it's annoying.

october 18, 2016 and this still happens, sorry for the necro but I thought It'd be right from me to bring it back

Just start your downloads; sometimes they are queued; but not started.
