"missing image from upload" profile picture

I just got a few images from deviant art to use as a profile picture with .jpg though when I attempt to change my profile picture it says "missing from upload". Help?

The pictures that you got from Deviantart are most likely way too big!

When your image exceeds a certain size, you will get that ''missing from upload'' error message. Resize your current avatars, or try uploading smaller artworks.

Proper size is 184x184.

They must be resized to 184x184 or it will not accept it.

I doubt you need a Photoshop certificate in order to resize and optimize pictures. Basic free image editors like XnView can do it inside a second.

But the error can be also caused by the filename containing non-english letters or a too long filename.

Any means of resize will work, but some do it different and some may resize more "jagged/blocky" then others.

But not only must be 184x184 but also no exceed a total file-size limitation of 200KB

Normally Steam will put a Blue square light around you whenever you are Online, and Green when playing a Steam App/Game.

If you can change it on a different PC try it it worked for me. Just save the photo on a flash drive.

i fixed mine form changing it from jpeg to png.

I have a problem with changing avatars as well. Though, mine gives a pop-up message after several times of trying saying that I made too many requests and I should try again later. 2/3 days later and it still won't work. Not even with pictures that I know for sure are the right size, since I had them as avatar before.
