PS4 controller is not recognized in games
Hey, guys!

I connected the PS4 controller, and it is recognized by the computer- I can see it under the control pannel, I can test it and see responce to the buttons, but when I load Steam game, the games do not recognize it. So far I have tried it with Tomb Rider and Greed 2. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Which OS and software are u using?
And are u using it via USB cable or through wireless Bluetooth?
That's why Xbox controller is so much better for PC, it's a xinput controller, unlike the PS4 (directinput). You have to download somekind of xinput emulator to get it function

I have seen articles telling to download something to make it work. I dont know what else may be in that ,exe installer- would not download just anything from the Web.

I have Windows 8.1 and was using it wired. By the way- after I tested it on PC, it stopped to be recognized by PS4. I spent an hour to get it back to work. Fixed it by holding PS button for like 5 minutes. I wont know if I want to take my chances and try it again. But I can find good use for the $40 I would have to spand on X-Box 360 controller.

The motherboard on my computer has no BlueTooth. Is the 360 controller using BlyeTooth for wireless? So I need it wired and I need a long cable to reach across the room as my computer about 12" Ft away from my TV... Any suggestions? Do I need "active" USB extension cable or just any? Thank you.
Wired 360 Controller is USB.
Wireless 360 Controller uses 2.4Ghz Receiver not Bluetooth.

If you already have a wireless 360 controller from your Xbox360 Console, u can use that on your Windows PC by simply buying the needed USB wireless receiver[www.amazon.com].

The PS4 controller is only DirectInput compatible

Which means it wont work in most modern games since they use Xinput

DO NOT USE MOTIONINJOY. Which is basically Chinese spyware.
Well x360ce should work.
I've used it to get cheap generic gamepads and ps2/ps3 controllers to work fine on PC.
I had Motion Joy software installed for PS3 controller. It worked pretty good- I even had vibration. The only problem was to always start software first, load driver, test it and then go on Steam. I often did not want to do it and would not play any games because of that. I have read somewhere that PS4 would work. But I do see articles now asking to download something.

If you use wireless X-Box 360 controller- how is it range? Do I have to sit close to the computer and point it directly toward it? My computer is located about 17 Ft away to the right from me and somewhat to the back of me. Can receiver receive the signal 17 Ft away from me under the desk behind the couch? I really do not want to have to deal with long wire laying in the middle of the room that I would need to hide.

Also how do you charge the controller? I do not have xBox 360 or charger- I would have to buy everything. May be I should just install Motion Joy? Thank you.
That seems odd though; I already had Xbox360 driver software installed for my Wireless 360 Controler & Receiver and when I plugged in my backup wired PS3 controller, it worked in games without any extra software or emulator.

Overall though, do not use MotionJoy, it is spyware. Please run Malwarebytes & Spybot S&D.

If you need a good emulator, try X360CE
Thank you for your reply. I am understanding that X360CE would let me use PS3 controller and may be even PS4 controller for Steam games? Can you, please, suggest safe download link? Also I am reading, "Cons
•Complex analog configuration
•Separate install for each game"

What does it mean?

Have you heard of XPADDER? I am reading this post and the OP says- it works better: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/943498-just-cause-2/55784451 Also it posted in 2010... I am confused- when will I get to play any games? :(
