"There was an error accessing YouTube to retrieve your username. Please try again."

To all the people having this problem, this is due to the gmail account being loggued not having a channel associated. In this case we have two options.

1) To the people having a youtube account after goggle implemented the gmail-google+-youtube tie, thus having only one youtube account tied on the gmail account. You only have to create a channel, and maybe add a video.

2) To the people which had a Youtube account before goggle tied everything, but stayed with the old youtube account, like me, here is a quick explanation. When steam tries to link the account it tries do do so with the cretendials you're loggued in. However that account probably does not have any channel because you have been using the old pre-tie era channel. So here is the solution, Log in to your gmail account inside the ingame browser, go to yoube, it will probably ask for which account you want to use, choose the old one as you propably do always, now, look into you account settings, on "Overview", under your name, on advance, there would be an email with the likes of "[e-mail]" this is an "email" account, created to handle the goggle plus tie, which was not allowed by you on your main google account with your name info and everything. However is not a real email account just an ID, copy that ID somewhere, now go to Overview again, and click on edit on goggle+ now click en the portrait->Dashboard-Settings and scroll down to "Third-party tools". Set up the password for the account. Then logout of everything on the browser. Now try to the tie the steam and youtube accounts name, but instead of login with your main account, log in with the weird email/ID copied before and with your new password. Now the linking should work :D

You are only able to add YouTube videos that are public visibility, allow embedding, and that show up in a username search for your username. If you just now set a video to public in order to link your account, it may take some time for YouTube to index and it to show up in search results.

The videos do require some time to be indexed, about day and a half, did you uploaded a video just now?
