SCM restrictions from recieving Gift card
I was wondering if this some new policy of Valve to give you SCM hold for 3 days after every single Gift Card you get. Cus as they state it will occur in rare moments, but i got 5 for 5 restrictions so far and its frustrating

They need to verify the payment method before sending them.

Use your credit card or other external payment method directly. Valve cannot verify the origin of a gift card and therefore, to protect itself from fraud, has to put a hold.

If you use a permanent external payment method personally bound to you, the hold will only be applied once for that payment method.

How should Valve know where the card was obtained from and how should Valve know whether the payment for that card (to a third party nontheless) was legitimate?

As for Valve, those cards can come from four different vendors. Valve doesn't know the origin of each gift card.

yea, I wanted to do so but anything Gift Card related doesnt have "contact support" option, so I've asked people, maybe some were in same situations, and how it all went for them

Anyways, now you know why purchases on the community market using credit sourced from gift cards incurs a hold.
