Even though you turned off recording in Steam settings, double-check the settings:
1. Open Steam.
2. Click on Steam in the top-left corner and select Settings.
3. Go to the In-Game tab.
4. Uncheck the box next to Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game (if it’s checked).
5. Also, under In-Game, disable Make Steam the default recording application.
2. Stop Steam from Running in the Background
If Steam continues running in the background, you can fully exit Steam to stop any recording processes:
1. Right-click on the Steam icon in your system tray (near the clock) and choose Exit.
2. If that doesn’t work, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), look for Steam or GameOverlayUI, and end those processes manually.
3. Clear Recording Cache (Optional)
Sometimes, clearing the Steam cache can help resolve leftover issues:
1. Go to Steam Settings > Downloads.
2. Click on Clear Download Cache and restart Steam.
4. Check the Folder for Leftover Files
Steam saves recordings to your system, and if background recording was running, the files might still be in your default video folder:
1. Go to the Steam Screenshots or Videos folder (usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your user ID]\760\remote).
2. Manually delete any leftover recording files.

Future Considerations:
• Alternative Recording Software: If Steam’s recording feature isn’t working as expected, you might want to consider using other software like OBS Studio (free) for better performance and more customization.
