[TIPS] How to make Steam use your full bandwith to download games
Hi guys,

When I upgraded my fiber subscription from 1Gbps to 2Gbps (my network card and RJ45 cable support up to 2.5Gbps), I was disappointed to see my Steam downloads still capped at 950-1000Mbps, just like when I was on a 1Gbps connection.

However, I solved my issue, and I think this might be helpful for some of you if you're using Windows:

-Open the Task Manager
-Go to the "Details" tab
-Find the process "steam.exe"
-Right-click on it and select "Set priority"
-Set it to "Realtime" or "High" (Realtime offers the best performance)

Since I did this, I’ve been able to download at 2Gbps, matching the maximum speed of my fiber subscription. Of course, this will use more resources on your drive, so an SSD is necessary to keep up with the speed.

You shouldn't set anything to realtime priority unless you understand what that means.

There's no need to do this. Steam can obliterate 1gbps connections

Your download speeds are limted by

1) your cpu
2) your disk IO
3) your anti-virus
4) your ISP

Sounds more like he's pc need lan driver update and stop use power scematic in balance mode or battry mode in a laptop.

it's like you have reduce you pc output to under performance and think high periority is the way.

We other are at desktop pc, we dont have them issue you struggle with.

ps.
Laptop user is make so many mistake first one was buy it as game pc. ( ask any laptop user that seen this before tthey drop fast in performance and should not be compare with desktop pc yuo actual have a chance to upgrade.

If you think im rough at laptop user think again, nothing wrong in have a remote pc for job/faulth finding.( but FULLTIM gaimg dont make us laugh here. its soon 1 april we should make post that day that laptop pc is greatest in the world, but joke on steam is not allowed.

gl with it.

ps.
And watchout for pc have traffic management and other thingsd that reduce DL. ( QOS ) and other share bandwide issue with multi pc and all other device on your lan, thats not a steam issue thats your problem on own network.

There has been steam user with 20 device on network and yet they complain over speed issue. ( no crap shelock as we say today )

Desktop user here, yes realtime is a little too much I agree, go with "High" priority instead.

I'm using a 2gbps connection, not 1gbps.
Without setting high priority I'm stuck at a 1gbps download, no QOS or energy saving here.

First world problem, I know...

Don't get on your high horse, you're off topic here.

I'm not here to argue, I just don't care.
I give this tip for the people with high bandwith.
