Steam web helper not responding
Does anyone have an issue with the steam web helper not responding and being unable to access steam no matter what you do?

I have the same problem. The task manager trick did the thing but it is not forever. I uninstalled Armoury Crate too but this didn't work.

I’m so glad to find other people with this issue. I haven’t found anyone I know experiencing it and was about to give up. I’ve tried everything with no permanent solution. Luckily the temporary one with resource monitor works for now. Really hope they fix this soon

something i noticed worked for me was, that if i put my PC to hibernate and then start it again, steam client opens immediately. Somehow this works for me but not the suspend process guide I found here.

Works, after unistall this software, steam is working again. I don't know why steam block this program "Armoury Crate".

I've been experiencing the same or a similar issue in the Linux client today. The main steam window would close randomly while browsing any page, then a moment later would pop back up back to the front page of Steam. Looking in the logs I see a lot of misc ./steamwebhelper related things, like its being restarted randomly. Not entirely sure, but appears to be related to some GPU rendering taking too long and the driver dumping the process. I've disabled all the GPU accelerated stuff I found (pretty sure I had disabled those long ago in the past) and also toggled on a few of the 'low bandwidth/low performance' items under settings->library and going to just browse the sales for a while and see if it reoccurs. Only just first noticed this behavior today.

Hello everyone, after a 3-day struggle, I finally succeeded on my side. I saw that every time I turned on my PC, I had Asus Armoury Crate launching at the same time, and after some research, I saw that for some people it could slow down the PC. Being on a desktop PC, I decided to uninstall everything that came from Asus, having only the motherboard from them. I restarted the PC and since then, no more problems launching Steam.
I'm on a desktop PC.

I deleted Armoury Crate. It's a software application developed by ASUS. After that steam worked again

got told a fix in a dif forum about the same problem posting it here.
1. Open "Task Manager"→Performance Tab then look at the bottom and click "Open Resource Monitor"
2. After you opened the "Open Resource Monitor", open the tab "Details" from the "Task Manager" (Yes, don't close the window)
3. As soon as you open steam, look at the "Open Resource Monitor" and look for "steam.exe". If you find it, monitor your Details tab from the Task Manager. When you see "steamwebhelper" pops up from the "Details" tab, on the "Open Resource Monitor", quickly right click "steam.exe" and hit "Suspend Process". Wail for 1~2 mins.
4. Wait until the "steamwebhelper" stops increasing memory.
5. If it settles, again right click "steam.exe" (It should be at the top in blue) "Resume Process".

the reason this works is if steam web helpers doesn't fully load before steam it crashes

Can confirm this worked for me, using the linux steam client
i've been having the same issue, only the error message looks different.
