The default fan curve of an ASUS TUF 3070Ti is set to the fans not setting in until 55°C.
Most likely a similar fan curve with a TUF 4080.

This. It's a noise/temp trade off when idling. I wouldn't have a problem with it at all if it peaks at 65°C under load.

You can also use Asus GPU Tweak to set a custom fan curve and disable the zero RPM mode of the fans.

Hmm, should be good.

Your tower/case could have less fans available/installed for air circulation.

Have you also plugged in each pin to your GPU?

Does your GPU and also its fans have enough free space to other hardware components? 10 cm minimum.

Is your case freed of any dust?

Such a high-end GPU of today should be not higher than 50 °C being in idle.

However, dont worry.

If your CPU and GPU are "below" 90 - 95 °C when in useage, thats fine and even intended.

Maybe you have also setup your dedicated GPU to use on desktop, your integrated GPU (Intel UHD for example) should handle it instead. The dedicated NVIDIA GPU just for games ..
1. maybe i dindt build it myself. while gaming its just fine and i will not bother giving the tower away for more cooling.

2. also dont know because im noob and dont built it myself haha

3. yeah looks good

4. its pretty new. just a few months. ye i cleaned it yesterday :)

5. its on 53, 54 most of the time and sometimes the 55 cap fan thing kicks in but its dead silent so im good on that end i think.

6. Ok.

7. yeah read stuff like this alrdy on google. im not even CLOSE to that temps even with 120fps+ on 2k while having GPU usage on 90ish. max temp while gaming is 65ish

8. oh did not knew bout this, thank you! will look into that one. its mostly on 0 usage when idling. sometimes on 1 or 2.

thank you very much for taking you time to halp. you will not shrink! i promisse.

Is the 4080 under 100% load that never goes above 65c?
What % speed fan speed or RPM is fans spinning while under 100% load on GPU?
1000 rpm mostly and very rarely gets over 65 yeh

i always keep my fps in gaming locked so that the GPU never goes higher in usage numbers than 90 or 95.

thank you also didnt know this! will take a look.

you are now save from shrinking!

Edit: yeh it kicks in over 55. its mostly on 53 or 54 so its not doing it that often while idling

So that means this users card idles around the temperature where the fan starts and stops?
That is the state that makes the least sense.

I would change that. Better having it spin the whole time than off and on while idle.

Depends on your ambient temps, I have a Noctua 4080 and it idles around 35-40c in 0 RPM mode.
