Steam Guard Backup code format — gives 6-, but requires 7-digits?

Today Steam decided to log me out for unknown reason. New Steam UI seems to not allowing generated 2FA codes from old mobile app, so I tried "use backup code" option since I've saved that some years ago while setting up Guard. But UI asks for 7-digits code and my code had an 'R' symbol and 5 digits after it. I've managed to log in with resetting Guard via sms, installing new Steam mobile app and configuring Guard again... and it gives me backup code with the same 'R'-5-digits format? Where can I get that 7-digits backup code which Steam log-in requires and why I need old code for now?

Recovery code =/= Backup code

Okay, why Steam Guard gives me that recovery code when I cannot enter it anywhere? Main 2FA code UI allows only 5 digits, that code has totally 6. Am I supposed to just drop the 'R' and use next digits? Or this code is only for authorised mobile app to use somewhere?

Thanks, didn't know about this feature.

The recovery code is for when you want to transfer or remove your authenticator

Note that if your previous authenticator is not generating the correct codes, this usually mmeans and the date and time is off on that device by more than 1 minute

Yes, my old phone which stores old Steam app and authenticator was uncharged for a while and the time was heavily off.
Anyway I was going to move authenticator to a new phone, so not a big problem. Thanks.
