shift + tab wont close steam overlay

When i press shift+tab to use overlay it comes up, but when im done and press shift+tab to close, it wont close. everytime i press shift + tab to close the overlay it disappears briefly just to re-open and open a new tab in the process, so i have to exit the game entirely because the overlay wont go away. why does this keep happening & does it have something to do with me playing on a controller (xbox) ?

We dont know maybe, try right click that game and get propertise, and then delete that games Steam's overlay data for that game only"

or do you have other overlay that interference with steam overlay,
such is seen before nvidia overlay and discord overlay, so many today, you only notice them then it dont work.

It dont sounds like a cookie or cache issue but somethings that interference with it.

Any software that modifies or monitors system, disk or network activity can cause issues with the Overlay's functionality. These programs and services can run in the background and are typically associated with software like Anti-Virus, ad-blockers, web-optimizers, firewalls, system cleaners, recording software, proxies, performance boosters etc.


Very stange steam dont explan safe boot mode , or i could not find it
google safe boot mode win10 or 11

feel free to unplug your controller, you dont need controller on pc , assuming this is not a steamDeck aka SteamOS issue.

just to update the topic, i went to the steam overlay settings and just changed the settings to enable big picture overlay for controller. though i prefer the original overlay , i guess this is fine. i can use the overlay in games now without it refusing to close now atleast.

Dump this info at steam suiggestion & ideas or steam beta forum, so steam devs see it.

topic and link , i doubt its normal , you can do this then things change this is a steam devs issue not a user problem imo.

i mean change mode and then things change thats not normal.

i most had hit a page back key by mistake and post in wrong post never done that before , afaik. ( delete post just like i did, so it add to more issue. )
