Bug with Notifications and Gifts. Email not received.

Hello I would appreciate help with receiving Notifications and Gifts as It seems It is bugged.

Essentially friend is trying to gift me Deadlock access but I haven't received a notification and on their end it says it is sent already so they can't re-send.

The only cause of error I can come to is that the notification on the Steam App is triggered by the email received into my nominated email account for Steam. And for a little while there I wasn't able to receive any emails into my account when they sent the pass.

Otherwise it's just coincidence and It's something else.
