gamestop controller wont work for payday 2

hey, my gamestop controller works with just about everything on my computer, im new to steam, and payday 2 supposedly has full controller support, but my controller just does not react in game, i have set the controller up through the steam menu, and steam recognizes it fine,just not the game itself. any suggestions on what i could do to get it to work?? any help is greatly appreciated :)

What exactly is the brand and model of the controller you bought?

gamestop brand, pops up in my computer as "after glow controller for ps3" but has gamestop written at the top of the controller itself

It's highly unlikely your controller supports the XInput library, which is what the 360 controller, and a few Logitech controllers use. Most newer games make use of this library, so if you don't use a 360/newer Logitech controller you'll need to download something like the free "xbox360ce" which makes the game believe you are using a genuine x-box 360 controller.

That controller does not support XInput at all. Which also means it won't work in any recent game.

In theory, yes and no. There are certain limits like the use of the analog shoulder triggers. Thanks to DirectInput they are seen as one axis, which makes them pretty unusable. So, if a game heavily relies on those, you will encounter problems.

The best solution would be getting a controller that properly supports XInput. The best way would be the Microsoft XBox 360 or XBox One controller.

I'm unaware of there being very many games that use that feature extensively - I've played more than a few games with xbox360ce + my PS2 controller via a USB adapter with no problems.

i all ready tried xbox 360 controller, ps controller usnig two programs to make it work as an xbox 360 and a pc game pad controller i found in RadioShack only the ps and the RS one worked breflly and then one day out of the nothing none of the games work with them any more. Then i fond on internet that steam was about to sell a new gamepadm, these kind of things really makes me think bad. by the way, anyone knows were i can buy that gamepad?

wow this got really complicated, now i understand why so many people prefer consoles, they dont give such a hasle. Thanks anyway pike, i know you are trying to help, but this is too complicated for a guy who download his games through a service (Steam) to avoid so many problems.

Just downloaded the x360ce App it seems to work perfectrly as soon as i open steam it stop working just downloaded The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition from steam it has an option for interface but keyboard seems like the only one maybe im doing something wrong please help
