Purchased wrong version
So, last night right before midnight I purchased the wrong version of a game I wanted (I was tired, and accidentally bought the base game instead of the complete version). I got on steam support and saw the page about purchasing the wrong game. I purchased the correct version as it instructed and submitted a help ticket. The page also says that you can not play the game for more than one hour if you want a refund. However, in purchasing the complete version, it only shows on my game library as dlc under the base game. It did not give me a gift copy of the base game.

Now, I've seen several posts on here saying that it has taken steam a month or more to reply to help tickets. So am I correct in assuming that I am pretty much SOL and can't play my new game for who knows how long? Or since they're the same game (one just has all the dlc) can I go ahead and play? Not sure if anyone can actually answer that or not.

You should not play it until Steam Support responds, unfortunately. It's the safest way to ensure that they don't find a reason to say "No" to the refund.

Eh, I was afraid of, but expecting, that. Wasn't sure if anyone else had experience with that or not though.

So is it really common for them to not reply to tickets for a month or longer?

It's usually a couple weeks. Simple stuff like this probably faster, as long as the ticket is not a page long story that tries to over explain things.

The ones with long tickets are those that get accounts and items stolen which requires investigation and stuff. A lot more work than just "Oh ya, this user purchased Borderlands 2, and then Borderlands 2 GoTY right away, and just wants a refund on Borderlands 2".

tonight i got a problem like OP. I was buying 3 games - 2 of them were 2- and 4-pack and third thing - just another game. All this stuff i bought with my permanent credit card, and it seems clearly understandable: it was planned as presents for friends. Unfortunately i missed that 3d game sudden got linked to my account, So i posted my first support-ticket, but now i see that it can take looong time...and i just want to "UN-have" this game and send it to my friend, i dont like this game at all etc. Sure i didnt launch or just touch it in library,
What do you think about my situation? I really need some advise, should i re-buy it like present again and wait for answer or what?

thats how the packs work, one for you and extra copies for your friends. you cant buy a 4 pack and get 4 gift copies.

I Think the key is my bad english.
let me explain once more: with 2-pack and 4-pack all is fine, i have got my copies on my account, having the rest 1x and 3x in inventory like "non-tradeable-give-only"-Gifts. But third position was not pack for me and friend(s). It was standalone different game, which one i wanted to gift my friend. So i didnt yet unpack it, and i dont ask for any kind of refund, just please re-send it to destination-friend and cut from my library...
it still smells like at shop window
