No. Steam wallet funds do not expire.
You didn't buy anything, including any games? If you have any Steam wallet funds available, they are always the first choice of payment method when making a purchase.
The amount doesn't matter - they don't expire, even if you only have a penny on your account.
The cheapest items on the Community Market are $0.03, I think. Also (as mentioned above), unless you change it on the checkout page, Steam will try to use your Steam wallet funds as the initial payment method when buying something from the store before charging the difference to another payment method.
For example, let's say you have $0.02 in your wallet: If your purchase comes to $9.99, Steam will want to use the $0.02 from your wallet first and charge the difference ($9.97) to your other payment method (i.e. credit card). You do have the ability to charge everything to your credit card though, the example is just for the default method.
