Is my process for getting rid of a virus appropriate?
My friend has recently been hacked, and as I wasn't paying attention, I clicked on a link he had sent me. When I clicked it, the steam web browser opened up but did not do anything and kept a black screen. I then copy pasted the link and then searched it on the web. A download started to appear on the bottom. My norton then started to say something saying it was a virus and scanned my computer. (I do not know if it had stopped the download and stopped it from running). Soon after, my friend had told me that it was a virus. I then did a norton quick scan of my computer, and changed my password. Since then, my computer has given me the blue screen of death, and I have restored my computer, yet it said my files were kept safe? Is there still a risk of me losing my inventory, worth over 100$? And is there anything I can do? My friend has already lost his inventory, but his mistake was not notifying his friends of this virus. I notified all my friends of this virus moments after norton popped up saying of this virus. I would like to know if I am still at risk and if there is anything I can still do.

- I had clicked on the link twice.
- Norton responded saying it was a virus
- I had norton quick scan my computer
- I changed my password
- Blue screen popped up twice on the day of and the day after
- Restored my computer (Said files were kept save)
- Went through downloads and didn't find anything I had downloaded on the date of (December 22-2014)

If the script didn't executed, probably nothing happened. But still better safe then sorry.

Download Malwarebytes and make a deep scan. It can work along with any antivirus, Norton included. Is far better for catching things like this as any antivirus. Also I would recommend to drop Norton for something better, Avast, Panda, Avira or such.
