If I buy an EA game in Steam, will it show up in Origin?
Before you answer this question I have 2 more, Is just that they all didn't fit in the title.

  1. If I buy an EA game in steam, will it show up in Origin?
  2. If I buy an Ubisoft game in steam, will it show up in Uplay?
  3. Would it work the other way around as well? (From Origin/Uplay to Steam)

So basically Im wondering if I buy for example BF4 in Steam would I have to buy it again In Origin for it to appear on my Origin game library. I read somewhere that Origin automatically adds EA games purchased on Steam to the Origin game library, is this true? Also, would it work the same way with Ubisoft games showing up In Uplay?

Sorry for so many questions at once, im getting my first gaming PC on Xmas and Im still learning about Steam functionalities.

Thanks in advanced.

Depends on the game. Check the store page whether it mentions 3rd party DRM for the game.

If you buy an Ubisoft game that requires Uplay, you will have to regster it on Uplay, which will add it to your Uplay library.

Most EA games for Origin are not on sale on Steam. But some, like the Alice game, you can register the CD Key on Origin and add it there too. It varies by game.

If you buy some games that require Steam, like Skyrim, on one of the other services, you will have to register it on Steam to play.

It is not an automatic system. And whether or not the same game can be, or has to be, registered on any of the platforms varies by game.

1. Not necessarily, but many EA games on Steam have a CD Key, which can be activated on Origin.
2. The newer Ubisoft games require uPlay. You would run the game from Steam, through uPlay.
3. No.

By the way, you can't buy Battlefield 4 on Steam. EA does not sell it on Steam.

You won't as many EA games aren't on Steam. If you want EA games, get them via Origin, it's easier this way.

GOD I forgot that BF4 is not in Steam! Im sorry for the mistake xD. Just pretend that I said Mirrors Edge instead :P

Not included. EA games bought on Steam very rarely transfer to Origin. If you want Mirror's Edge (and many other games) on both Steam and Origin, you'll have to pay twice.

Mirror's Edge Steam version cannot be activated on Origin. That's one of the EA games that don't require a CD key and don't get one if you buy it from Steam.

Mass Effect 1&2 can be activated on Origin.

Wow, the replies came faster than I expected! I've been told that PC gaming has a bit more mature users. Coming out from console gaming to PC, I'm surprised how good grammar I have seen so far in this forum. Also if I would've been in some console forums, I would have probably been laughed at and been called names for the mistake I said earlier of BF4 being in Steam. While I'm sure that PC has a trolls as well, is nice to be able to have a conversation without being ridiculed for mistakes or having different opinions.

Thanks for all the replies guys and gurls! Really helped me alot!

A pro tip for you: don't buy Steam games unless on sale. Don't preorder unless you really want to give your money to the publisher. Wait for Steam sales. You'll end up paying way less money. WAY LESS! And when on Steam sales, buy games on daily/flash/community vote deals, not just any game that is on sale. Unless it's the last day of the whole sale thingy and you really want the game and it's quite cheap alrady. That's for Steam. If you want to buy EA games on Origin or Ubisoft games on Uplay, they have sales too, but I've no particular idea.
Except... EA run "On the house" on Origin. Every now and then, you get an EA game for free. It's quite nice.
Also, check out indie bundles, subscribe to the indie bundles Steam community group. You'll get news on cheap indie bundles, like one friggin' dollar for 5 awesome indie games.

A word of warning. An advantage of the PC is that you can run every software you want. This is a disadvantage as well, if you install a virus, it will steal all your Steam inventory stuff and get you into further trouble, like Stealing your account and getting you a VAC ban. So use your common sense. Like "A stranger wants me to run a program", it's similar to "A stranger offers me a weird-looking bottle". Don't take it.
