I received a gift but steam says "An error was encountered while processing your request: This game has already been redeemed."

Please, what i can do to receive the gift ?

the gift has been redeemed yes thats possible.
if not by you than by somebody else.

your "friend" can sent it to other people too.

This is very weird to me.

I will talk with my friend. I don't believe that was the case. But if it was, steam needs fix it.

he can check his gift history or resent it to you if it failed from his inventory.

nope you understand wrong I can resent gifts in my inventory , don't know how fast or how often but it is a common scam.

edit:to make it more clear after sending it the gift stays in my inventory untill redeemed.
untill than I can resend it.

This problem has just happened to me. I just bought a gift for my friend, (and only one friend), I received a receipt for the gift in my email saying it had been sent to my friend. My friend received my personal message that came with the gift but then when he clicked on 'redeem gift' it came up with the error saying that the gift had already been redeemed. I have contacted steam about it and hoping for a reply soon as i am pretty pissed off I have paid for something that has not been delivered. And no the game is not in my inventory or his.

I am also having this problem with a Trine Complete gift I got in an e-mail on December 25. I tried clicking on the link to activate the gift using a web browser to see if that would work.

The web browser will give me a message saying "Your gift is now in your Steam game library."

Then I click the link in the browser to install the game and the Steam application shows a window that says "Scanning for Steam licenses updates..." This window will stay there forever until I click the cancel button. The game library doesn't show Trine and there are no incoming gifts being shown.
