Downloading dlc without having an installed copy of the core game (Crusader Kings 2)
Basically I bought a copy of Crusader Kings 2 from amazon as a christmas present for my son. I also bought the dlc collection from gamersgate. Since the amazon game is a physical copy it will not be installed until xmas when it is opened. However steam takes a long time to download games and such and my son will want to play it that day. Is it possible to download the crusader kings 2 dlc to my pc now and then activate it when installing the core game?

Sorry but no. To download and install any games DLC, you have to have the base game installed. The DLC's are added to the base games game folder.

Since you have the disc for the base game, installing from the disc will only take a few minutes. Then only the DLC's will need to be downloaded through Steam.

I added to my post. And you're welcome.

You might want to verify that the Amazon disk is actually a Steam game. Steam DLCs only work on Steam games.
