How to add a credit to my son's account (wallet?) as a gift.
In the past I've been able to select games, pay for them and send them as gifts. This time there isn't a specific game. I just want to make a deposit in their wallet so my son can apply it whenever he wishes, or I think that's what needs to be done but I can't figure out how to do it and customer support just sent me a generic link that doesn't cover this option.

You can't send/trade money to other accounts. Either login to his account and use your credit card to add money to his wallet or buy a prepaid steam wallet card to give him.

You can always buy a Steam Wallet Code from some examples such as GameStop, 7-11, etc. and redeem it on Steam on your sons account. To do so, press "Games", then press "Redeem a Steam Wallet Code".
