People now entering the auctions, if they resume the normal way, would have to spend 100+ times the money or amount of cards recycled to compete in the auctions.
They have not relaunched the event so lets see how it goes.
it's about 10% the price, not 100 times lower. The market pricing was 0.3/bag.
That's not true. A $0.03 CSGO background can get you 100 gems -> $0.3/1000 gems.
How in the world did you come up with 3.5 per 1000 gems. That is impossible.
Even with 98K gems I don't think I'll ahve odds of winning any bids.
Unless they perma-ban all the exploit users and change it from an auction to a raffle, it'll still be 'richest bidder wins' though - and where's the Christmas fun in that?
They did and their gems are removed. Or at least some of them. I guess it's really not hard to detect when someone conjure up 18 billion ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gems out of thin air
But that's exactly how an auction is supposed to work.
Yeah, Im a few hours late to the news. Got out of playing game, opened the gem bags and found the event in on hold and talks of bans and what not.
Should I be in a bit of fear for buying 98 bags for 3 cents each? It is just $2.94 for 98K gems and feels like it might be a tad much.
You're aware that not all backgrounds go for 1. for $0.03 2. yield 100 gems.
I just checked a random background that goes for $0.2 and yield 60. That's $3.40.
Taking your best case example one would have to pay $0.30/1000, that's your 10% or said otherwise if you want to compete with someone who spent money $30 on duped gems, you will have to shell out $300 or recycle 10.000 CSGO cards. Sounds fair.
Multiply this x10 for a worse case example.
worse the auction / marketplace is toast.. not good so its like going to be impossible for regular folks since there is so much distortion i think... cause of the counterfit gems and harm to marketplace its going to be sad event... bunch of losers other than the crooks (ok steam going to also make money on it which is sad, the only people who look like going to get hurt are members who were not involved in fraud) the harm is done steam i dont see has rolled back the marketplace/transactions. so honest people take bath.
I dropped a number of cards to get 500 gems. Without the bags I bought, Id bet I could get maybe 2-3K gems total from all the cards I could get from the games I own but haven't played them after the card updates.
Now I got 98K and thinking it might not have been a good idea. No way in hell I want to loose this account over something like this.
