Xbox controller for PC driver corrupted and cannot find the driver to delete it
New to PC gaming and wanted to use a controller to play Lego Batman games with my son. I downloaded the correct driver for the official Microsoft website. Got a message saying the driver didn't install correctly. Under device manager its showed a little yellow warning so I removed the driver. When I tried to download the driver again i get an error saying that it cant install as the driver is already installed. I cannot locate this driver anywhere on my system. Any help would be much appreciated.

I could be wrong, but the 360 controller might be plug-and-play. Have you tried just using the controller?

Downloading drivers manually I 90ies. Plug it in and let Windows handle drivers for you. And do a system restore, that might help establishing a clean state.

Got it sorted, Rebooted and then connect the controller again and the curropted driver showed up in device manager. Did and unistall and then plug and play and it worked like a charm. Thanks for your help.

Pro tip: manually installing drivers is, like I said. Kinda passe. There are only two cases where manually installing drivers is not a stupid idea:
1. Graphics drivers. Sad but true, you kinda have to do that. Both AMD and Nvidia have utilities that handle driver updates for you, by the way.
2. When the device manager on a newly installed machine shows exclamation marks. Unless you install your machine from scratch, don't need to worry about that.
