GOD HELP ME ; MISSING FILE PRIVILEGES
Dude!!! I have had this problems for months! Anytime I try to install something onto my D: hard drive it displays "Missing File Privileges"! I have tried so many ways to try and fix and not even my tech enthusiast friends can find a solution. Please helppp!!!
I've tried all of these so far, none have worked
- Running Steam as administrator
- Clearing the download cache
- Repairing the library folder
- Verifying the game files
- Disabling the igfxEM module process (Never found this thing in task manager)
- Changing the download region

Running Windows 11.

is the drive by chance formatted FAT32?

If that's the case, backup all data and format it to NTFS.

You should re-format your entire computer and start over.

Step 1.

Download Burn an Windows OS ISO to a USB with an application called Rufus. Make sure the USB is formatted to FAT32 File System for burning the iso image to the USB.

Step 2. Once you have burnt the OS ISO to a USB go into your bios by pressing Esc or F12 or some other key and turn of the secure boot. You do this during boot up before your OS launches.

Step 3. In the bios change the UEFI boot priority to USB and then restart your PC.

if you have done everything completely the proccess to wipe your entire system and reformat it begins.

Use google if its complicated for you or ask chat gpt.

I'm running on widows 10, tried all these and have no luck. Have you had any luck?

here is the link that contain more solutions other than the ones your already done

https://softwarekeep.com/help-center/steam-missing-file-privileges

--------------------------------------------------------

there is also another reason why "missing file privileges" occur

1) you have no admin rights on the computer at all

what this means is these

a) you never log in the admin windows account

b) the person in charge of the admin windows account place restriction on other windows user account

no luck, I even switch to windows 10 and it still persists. I am about to wipe the D drive. I honestly have no idea what to do after this if it still persists. The only known method I haven't tried yet is the one where you end task on the ifgxEM module because I never found it in my task manager even using the search bar.

Is Steam installed in drive C?
I would try the following:
  1. Exit completely out of Steam
  2. Create a folder for example TempSteamD in drive D
  3. Open the Steam Library folder in drive D (D:\SteamLibrary by default) and move its contents to TempSteamD
  4. Delete the now empty folder D:\SteamLibrary
  5. Start Steam
  6. Go to Steam -> Settings -> Storage and click the blue downward-pointing caret symbol and add a Steam Library to drive D
  7. Exit Steam
  8. Move the contents of TempSteamD to the newly created D:\SteamLibrary folder
  9. Start Steam
  10. Check to see if the games appear as installed in the Library
  11. If games upper as not installed, try installing one in D. Steam will seem to install the game but will instead recognize and check the integrity of existing files.
