playing Epic games on Steam? o u o;;
hallo. i got the Death Stranding game from Epic cos it was free that time o u o;; (most of my games are still here tho, lol)
but Epic sux with controllers. im using a generic controller (Ipega brand, PG-9078) and read that Epic seems to prefer newer or Xbox type controllers. so i was wanting to play the game thru Steam to be able to use what i have.

so uhh... im wondering if i'd still be able to get Epic achievements that way?

(i'm ok with not getting Steam achievements, i understand that fully.)

sorry, i know it's not exactly a Steam problem, but im not sure where else to ask. hope this is ok here... TIA!

You can probably try adding Death Stranding from EGS to Steam as a "non-steam game" and thus might be able to get the controller to work in the game through Steam Input. However, if it still doesn't work after that then you might be out of luck.

I don't think launching your copy of Death Stranding through Steam as a non-steam game will void your achievements on EGS. It should only be beneficial to do that if you want access to Steam Input.

There are reports saying you should be able to use many types of controllers without the help of Steam Input though, so if it doesn't already work for you without Steam then either the game, EGS, or the version available from EGS, might be outright refusing your controller:

Can't you use x360ce for emulation?

It's been probably ten years or more since I used it, but it's open source replacement of some dll files. You just drop them into the game's directory (not sure if Epic allows that) and the game thinks you have a legitimate xbox controller.

it might be because my controller is pretty old. ive had it for a while. ipads aren't even in its list of compatible devices yet lol (except for the those issued with Chinese language by default, iirc)

ive tried the add as non-steam game option, and it does let me use my controller, but it doesn't pick up the save files from my previous game thru Epic. so i was worried if the game would even "send" any achievement to my Epic account, during or afterwards.
