Using steam on virgin media
Wonder if anyone can help?

I'm having issues trying to download from Steam. I'm a new VM customer - had issues with broadband generally, when trying to download big files the connection would completely drop out and need a reboot of the superhub. Had a couple of engineer visits, and that's now fixed (mostly) which is good.

However, I'm now trying to download some games I've purchased from Steam, and having real issues. With Steam you can throttle the download speed. If I throttle to a low speed (e.g. 16 kb/s - very low!) I can download, albeit with the download starting and stopping. If I increase the speed, I see the same pattern, but eventually the connection will drop out again. E.g. if I increase the speed to 500kb/s, it'll download for somewhere between 10s-10m, but then the network will go. Whilst my laptop is still plugged into the superhub, the connection for the whole house drops. If I pull the cable out of the laptop, wifi etc starts working again for the house, but the laptop needs a reboot before it'll work on the cable again - seems like it's crashing the network card or something?

I've included a screenshot of the up/down/up/down download (at the 16kb/s slow speed) below.

Any thoughts?!?

No problems here using the SH2, try asking here, they are usually very helpful: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12/
