pre-paid visa and steam
Anyone know if steam will take a pre-paid debit visa card and/or any pre-paid card?
i want to know so i could get games that way to set um limits on how much i will spend per month on steam as i kinda have a tendcy to spend ALOT on steam and that would be a nice way to limit how much i could spend buying a new pre-paid card each month and//or just useing what is left after that current month is up

As long as it is a VISA, sure, why not?

ok good good just making sure as steam support was seeming to take forever but once they got back and i did what the seeming to be automated response said it works now ... yay it works and ok Visa Debit works i will remember that as there are other options but as this one works i am not going to use the others and risk it not working

Most will work but not all. I do not suggest using pre-paid debit cards. In addition to being a ripoff (fees, lack of protections/support, no rewards) they also have trouble on some internet sites like Steam. Due to the high amount of attempted credit card fraud on Steam, they take a couple extra measures to verify the billing name and info that you submit is the same that the card issuer has on file. Since prepaid cards don't have that info by default purchases can often fail. Most card companies will allow you to contact the number on the back of the card for you to attach your billing info to the card. Not all with have this issue but if you were to buy a card that fails to work on Steam this could be the reason.

The Debit Visa cards from the local CVS seem to work thankfully but yes i do get that they are a big rip off at +$4.95 per time getting a card of $20 to $250 .
but as i said before they do make for a good way to set monthly limits on how much money i spend on steam as the steam sells are so inticeing for such good games.

You could use Google Wallet's pre paid /master card to avoid those fees.

If you're told to contact the support, do it.

the help which steam support gave to me which did work was to first exit Steam then navigate to
..\Steam and delete all the files and folders in it besides Steam.exe and \Steamapps\ and \Userdata\ folders
then restart the computers and when steam comes up log in it will update and fix the problem ... or should if it is the same problem that i had anyways.

never had issues with prepaid visa cards. Are enough funds on the visa card? Is the Card already activated?
