*SOLVED* I can't invite any of my friends to a trade!
I can add people as friends but I can't invite anyone to a trade, says I need I games in my account for it to work as shown in this image[i1177.photobucket.com] But I already have games, I have Metro 2033, Dead Island Epidermic and TF2! What am I missing? Does it want more games in my library for trades to work or is it something else?

Help would be appreciated!

:)

You need to have purchased the games directly from Steam. Retail copies and keys bought elsewhere won't work. You need SteamGuard enabled for 15 days. Your last purchase (or wallet funding) must have occurred at least 30 days ago, but not more than a year ago.

Really, have they changed it now?! I knew someone who had a retail copy of CSS and activated that on Steam a few years ago and everything worked for him! Could invite people to trades, buy and sell stuff etc.

Um, does me getting Metro 2033 from a Humble Bundle sale count? I mean I may have not bought it directly from Steam, but I did it indirectly using Humble Bundle to redeem the game on Steam. That still counts, doesn't it?

I had SteamGuard enabled for at least a couple of months. My last purchase was Metro 2033 on Humble Bundle, that was on the 8th of November 2014.....so I guess I have to wait till the 8th of December 2014, for me to be able to trade?

No I'm sorry, Humble Bundle is buying a key from another site. The purchase must be directly from Steam. You could also fund your wallet or redeem a gift.

So if someone gifted me, or was nice enough and traded me, a steam game gift, I could add that to the library and be able to invite anyone on my friendslist to a trade?

You would need to wait 30 days from the time you redeemed the gift, but yes.

Oh wow, another waiting period???! Are they trying to discourage us from using steam? Why are they making this difficult for us?

-.-

It's just the one waiting period, unless you count SteamGuard. Once you have funded your wallet, purchased a game directly from Steam, or redeemed a gift, you only have to wait the 30 days once, unless you go more than a year without funding your wallet, making a purchase from Steam, or redeeming a gift. Sorry.

Hm...

Well it would appear that I didn't need to wait the 30 day period! Just then, one of my friends was nice enough to gift me a copy of ORION: Prelude(after explaining the situation of course...) and now I can invite the person to a trade! Yay! Which would mean I can probably invite anyone else to a trade who's on my friendlist too!

Maybe I had already done the 30 day period somehow, but if I can just *invite to trade* button my friend just like that - right after redeeming a steam game gift; I'm happy - that's what I wanted!

Thanks torvuseremita for your help!

Huh, well that's a bonus. I'm glad I was able to help, and happy trading.
