How Do I Use My WIred XBOX Controller To Play Mafia 2?

Ok I purchased the Mafia 2 game today. Then I plugged my wired xbox controller into my windows 8 usb port. Now my controller does not work. I cannot click on the controller options area because all the options are greyed out. I do not want to use the keyboard controls. Can someone please tell me how to activate my wired xbox controller now?

Is there full controller support for this game? Can I play it with my wired xbox 360 controller?

I think I just plugged my xbox controller in, it installed some driver and then it was good to go

Is it really wired, or a wireless with a play&charge kit?
Is a light lit up when you plug it in?

Not that it will help much, as the game does not support controllers at all.

I use an Xbox wired controller that lights up when you plug it in. Can you tell me how to activate it?

Well, that indicates the controller works as intended. On the other hand, so does the game, not supporting controllers.

Most games do not recognize it unless it is plugged in before starting the game.

plug it in BEFORE you start the game. Let it be recognized by the OS first.

As i already said, Mafia 2 does not support controllers.

Then why are there setting for vibration and you can customize it even??

Just plugged mine in and tested, works just fine.

There is no mention of controller support on the store page, unlike other games that do support it.

Mafia II was a console port.

Peripherals: Keyboard and mouse or Windows compatible gamepad
