[SOLVED] I want to move CS:GO from one computer to another
Hello,
I just bought CS:go yesterday and downloaded it on my laptop, now i want to move the game to my desktop PC, i copied the entire CS:Go folder from
D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\Common on the laptop,
and past it into :
F:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\ -> i created a common folder, and past the CS:GO folder from the laptop.

I open it the game from there and thought everything works fine (i played for 15 minutes with bots) but when i try to play online i got a message that said : "you have launched the game in insecure mode from outside steam or insecure flag"

When i open steam it doesn't recognize that i have all the files for CS;Go and it will start downloading again (i still have the download folder)

Can anyone please help, my internet connection is a bit slow and i don't want to wait another 24 hours to play the game.

Thank you

Im sorry to say, but only solution is to reinstall this game/and steam , it won't hurt to wait a few hours wouldn't it?

Problem fixed,
Backup to external drive then restore the game from the new computer
(Steam -> Backup and Restore games)

here's what i did :

created a common folder (the folder's name is common) inside the steamapps folder

closed steam

pasted the whole cs:go folder into the common folder inside the steamapps folder

ran cs:go

closed cs:go

ran steam

clicked install on cs:go

then it automatically detected existing files as they are now creating local game cache files

hope this helped! ^_^

What I did was buy the game.

1. Copy the files from the friends 'steamapps' folder and paste it into my pc into common folder.

2. Delete the contents of the downloading folder and in steam right click on your game and uninstall it (this wont loose your game).

3. Then just Go to store and search your game and click PLAY NOW.

4. The setup will start discovering your existing files.

When done, Enjoy the game.:steamhappy:

Hi I did this too, and I launched csgo from the unofficial download ( copy from my friend ) It doesnt work when playing casual,

close steam completely, re-open steam. Csgo is now available to play. :)

don't manually copy-past the game, you need to use Steam backup/restore feature, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tb3Ivg9c5c

just copy copy the csgo files then head to steam and click verify game files

When a back up is made the contents of the folder should have "disk_1, disk_2" etc. inside, therefore when restoring a backup from steam it only detects the back up by selecting the "Counter-Strike Global Offense" folder.

I just remember that i have csgo sdk installed, so i need to uninstal it first to be able to move csgo to other drive
