Two Worlds II or any hardcopy game not on steam + DLC's
I searched and read up a bit and just wanted to be sure I understand correctly. I don't want to have to buy twice the exact same game. I have Two Worlds I and II on CD. If I activate Two Worlds II on my Steam account using the product activation code and then buy the expansion "Two Worlds II -Pirates of the Flying Fortress," (assuming it will let me) through steam will I be able to play it??

yes the cd key will be bound to your steam account and grant you the base game if nothing else is specified on the retail copy, then you are free to buy any dlcs to that game and it will be add in the library under the game - right click "properties then "dlc".

I'm not so sure the key will be accepted on Steam...

Hmm. that's an interesting link, Vampire.... I don't know. It's a tossup, I guess?? It's not on the list, but then again it's obviously a "steam" game if the expansion and the game can be bought on Steam... so, it seems like A would be right on this... I guess the question is what happens if I register the key to try it and it doesn't work? I guess I can always just load and play it the same way on my pc, right? Nothing to lose?

Not necessarily. Only keys that are authorized by the publisher can be added to Steam. Many retail games that can be bought on Steam are like that, which is why you see warnings on DLC pages of some game stating you MUST own the game on Steam to purchase, it does not work on retail games.

TW2 is like that. You will have to buy the game on Steam to buy the DLC from Steam.

Look at the store page for the DLC you want. Dead giveaway.

Aaaaaw.... that's what I was thinking. Frustrating... how dumb is that?? Oh well, I just found the entire package for 86% off and only 3.49 for both. Who can argue with that? Thnks for the responses and info!
