Lego Marvel Superheores issue
I just got this game and I made it past the first level with no issues (Sand Central Station). However on the second level (Times Square Off), when I reach the city from jumping off the carrier, the graphics are awful and there is almost no detail. The streets are just plain gray and the characters sink to about their knees in it. Instead of walking on the ledge of the building to open the door and trigger the lasers, Mr. Fantastic just walks on air (there is no ledge). The worst part however, is that when i finally go through the door and into the big building, the screen goes black and never returns to the game. I tried messing around with different resolutions but that did not work. Any suggestions? Also, I am a noob with computers so please keep responses as simple as possible.

My specs:
AlienWare
Windows 7
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit operating system
Display Adapters: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 555

(btw I have no clue what any of those specs mean I just copied them from what my computer said)

Thanks,
Lecapitan007

you might want to look up your card, and try to update it's drivers as best you can. if nothing else. but, as far as i can tell on a quick search, that might be your problem.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2738661 over at the max payne 3 forums it came up.

also came across a 2012 review "getting hate" back then. so... since it's almost 2015, you might think about a new video card. your cpu and ram is pretty good, now just to upgrade your video.

I updated my nvidia drivers but nothing new happened. I dont really know about the the Intel(R) graphics card and what I should do with it. Should I just get a new card? And which would you reccomend?

Firstly, your game should run on GTX 555 not Intel HD 4000. Your laptop should switch to the nVidia card automatically when you launch the game. Updating drivers doesn't always help because your card is just not capable of displaying some artefacts that game is using. Also, I would be very cautious when installing drivers directly from nVidia. It is better to use drivers supplied by Dell.
Secondly, try to lower your Effects Settings using your in-game options to see, which settings work better for you.

Thanks for the response Bushwalker. I tried changing up my effects settings many times but the problem persists. I am also using a desktop, not a laptop. I don't know if that matters or not i'm just pointing it out. My computer has been able to run other games just fine like Mass Effect, Fallout:NV, and even NBA 2k15. Do I buy a new video card, and if so, which one do you guys recommend?

Also, I dont understand why i would need a new card because the reccomended is a nvidia geforce gtx 480, and I have an nvidia geforce gtx 555

Sorry, I thought it was a gaming laptop. It doesn't matter, really. I would still try the original graphic driver for GTX 555 supplied by Dell, just in case.

wait so does anyone know how to fix my problem?
zbrenner2012 Nov 26, 2014 @ 11:56pm
Here is a screenshot I took in-game. As you can see, my character sorta sinks in the ground. There is no gate around that one big gate. The building is very blurry and the ledge that is supposed to be there isn't. I can still get through this part, but when I do go into the building, my screen goes black and nothing happens. Everything up to this point has worked fine.

Download GPU-Z and turn on "Background logging" (or similar), run the game and said level where problems persist for a good 10 minutes, quit the game and then uncheck the logging feature. Save the log and upload it to http://pastebin.com then post the link here so I can take a look at it.

My guess is you've plugged your monitor into the motherboard's integrated VGA, DisplayPort or HDMI port rather than the supplied ones on your GTX 555. Also, regarding specs, your computer should be fine for another couple of years but I'd suggest a graphics card update around next year (something along the lines of a 750 Ti or Maxwell 950 once it's released).

I may not have done it right... I dont know

There was no "background logging" option. I just checked the box that said "keep refreshing while app is open" then at the end clicked "log to file" which saved the log to my documents

Ah right my bad I should've worded my intructions better. Can you try again? Also just to be sure, can you upload a screenshot of GPU-z's window when you first open it up? I want to confirm that it's running on the Nvidia card rather than the motherboard/integrated HD 4000.

So just to clarify:
1. Open GPU-Z, take a screenshot of the main page (where it shows all the card's specs) and upload here
2. Check "Keep refreshing while app is open" and also "Log file"
3. Run the game while GPU-Z is open for 3-5 minutes. Be sure to play the level you're facing these problems
4. Close the game. Open GPU-Z.
5. Uncheck "Log to file", save it, upload to pastebin and comment link here

i'll save you the headache, he's running on a 1gb card. upgrading to a 2013ish 2gb card will fix most problems. also, make sure it's a 256-Bit card.

As a last resort then, do either of the two (this will lower vram usage):

1) Change game resolution to 900p (1280x720p/lower if it doesn't solve the problem) or
2) If you'd rather game at 1080p change your graphics quality to all of the following
-change Antialiasing to either CSAA or set to OFF
-lower "Shader quality" to Medium setting
-lower "Texture quality" to LOW
-lower "Shadow quality" to Medium

I'm not sure if there's a setting for Ambient Occlusion but it's best to turn that off too. That should get you a constant 30+ FPS if not a variable 40-60. Though I'd still recommend you upload a GPU-Z log here in case it isn't related to vram or bandwidth bottlenecks.

I tried changing the resolution and effects many times but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Here is a new log leading up to the black screen:
