http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2738661 over at the max payne 3 forums it came up.
also came across a 2012 review "getting hate" back then. so... since it's almost 2015, you might think about a new video card. your cpu and ram is pretty good, now just to upgrade your video.
Secondly, try to lower your Effects Settings using your in-game options to see, which settings work better for you.

My guess is you've plugged your monitor into the motherboard's integrated VGA, DisplayPort or HDMI port rather than the supplied ones on your GTX 555. Also, regarding specs, your computer should be fine for another couple of years but I'd suggest a graphics card update around next year (something along the lines of a 750 Ti or Maxwell 950 once it's released).

There was no "background logging" option. I just checked the box that said "keep refreshing while app is open" then at the end clicked "log to file" which saved the log to my documents
So just to clarify:
1. Open GPU-Z, take a screenshot of the main page (where it shows all the card's specs) and upload here
2. Check "Keep refreshing while app is open" and also "Log file"
3. Run the game while GPU-Z is open for 3-5 minutes. Be sure to play the level you're facing these problems
4. Close the game. Open GPU-Z.
5. Uncheck "Log to file", save it, upload to pastebin and comment link here
1) Change game resolution to 900p (1280x720p/lower if it doesn't solve the problem) or
2) If you'd rather game at 1080p change your graphics quality to all of the following
-change Antialiasing to either CSAA or set to OFF
-lower "Shader quality" to Medium setting
-lower "Texture quality" to LOW
-lower "Shadow quality" to Medium
I'm not sure if there's a setting for Ambient Occlusion but it's best to turn that off too. That should get you a constant 30+ FPS if not a variable 40-60. Though I'd still recommend you upload a GPU-Z log here in case it isn't related to vram or bandwidth bottlenecks.
Here is a new log leading up to the black screen:
