Kill stuck Steam.exe
Just now I don't want to reset my PC because of Steam. Out of spite.
I want to kill "Steam.exe", whatever it takes.
I cannot launch it anymore, because is already running... somewhere.

Do you have any idea how to kill him? (Obviously, Task Manager doesn't do the trick)

Did you try rebooting?

No, and I don't want to. Now is personal. Every time I upgrade Steam it sticks! Says that cannot connect to the network... crashes... I close it... and I have to bear it stuck among the others processes.

"Access Denied" when you try to kill it by Task Manager.

Do you know which other process could keep it stuck in memory?

I have:

Steam.exe
Steamwebhelper.exe (twice)
SteamService.exe

The steamservice.exe is only visible after clicking "show processes from all users"

Thanks. Unfortunately I have "Steam.exe *32" only. 41,092K stuck in memory...

Any solution for this problem seemingly still occurring three years later?
Steam Client Bootstrapper, Steam Client Service, 2x Steam Client WebHelper
Restart my computer every time I do not consider as solution.

Something's REALLY off on your system, there shouldn't be any denial of access. Steam doesn't do that, a third-party program does. Restart your system in safe mode (obviously with networking). Can you still not kill Steam from task manager then?

3 years later.. You are wrong.
i have encountered this Issue while trying to update a game (Path of Exile Delirium league) the updater has " stopped " and was always getting stuck whenever it tried to update and got the steam exe app stuck aswell , matter worst it even prevents me from doing a clean restart of the system because it cannot restart with a stuck program, had to hard shut down and guess what ? when i opened steam again it tried to update that game again and the loop continue...

How to fix open up TaskManager (ctrl + shift + esc) find explorer exe right click End Task , find steam exe right click End Process Tree , top left of task manager go to File -> run new task type in explorer exe.

Now uninstall the game you had issue with X:\Steam\steamapps\common\[THE GAME GIVING ISSUE] and delete it , launch steam if it's still in the list do uninstall or reinstall if it's not. and pray to RNGesus that game doesn't give you more trouble...

You came from the future to save my problem. Finally Steam has been terminated.
Thank you, stranger.
