On the top of the Steam client (Games) -> Activate a Product on Steam -> Next -> I agree -> enter the key there.

Was it definitely a steam code? Perhaps it was for Desura, Origin or Uplay

That's what you get for buying from an unauthorized reseller. Wouldn't be the first time that site sells stolen keys or keys they got for cheap from HumbleBundle and selling them for high prices on their own site.

Yes, they ripped off a charity to make money! This site is pretty much part of the scum of the internet and if you lost money you deserve it by buying from them.
They even sold you a key that doesn't work. Hope you're happy to have saved so much money with that cheap offer.

Firstly they aren't all unathorized. Secondly you don't even get a KEY from humblebundle so it isn't ripping off charity

You're forgetting Humble Bundle isn't the only charity based Steam -key seller.

Also, Humble Bundle's keys used to be in CD-key format, it wasn't always via the API.

He was talking about humblebundle though. Didn't realise that humble bundle was ever in key form but that would have been some time ago, unless it's an old game I doubt it was a humble key

Not anymore, HumbleBundle changed that because of events like that.
The shop that was mentioned here, that is filtered by the forum word filter is in fact unauthorized.

You're both forgetting that the reason you don't get CD keys from HumbleBundle any more is because people were reselling them at huge markups - probbaly through sites like the one in the OP's post.

Actually, Humblebundle used to give you the keys like other shops do.

I believe part of the reason why the API to redeem keys via a 3rd party site was (at least to some extent) introduced to prevent such "buy keys from bundlesites and sell them for cheap" schemes. I can't pretend to know all shops and bundlesites, but Humblebundle and Indiegala no longer give you keys (I believe Bundlestars still does), whereas Greenmangaming or Amazon still give you keys like they always did. I guess there isn't enough money to be made by buying keys from a proper game store and reselling them.

EDIT: as a sideeffect, the key-redeem-API now allows Humblebundle to add time limits to their stuff. Giveaways (not purchases) from humblebundle tend to come with a note attached to them that they have to be redeemed by a certain date, so you can't just hoard 1000 Tropico-3 giveaways and do something evil with them later on.
