How to I contact Steam/Valve customer service directly?
This is ridiculous. Does actual customer service exist. All I've gotten is steam support which you have to create a whole different account for and still doesn't answer my question. Then it directs me to look to discussion boards to find my answer. Seriously. I haven't found any other way to reach them. Am I missing something? I just want to be able to return a game that I have never installed and never plan on playing.

Support doesn't even show this question.

You can only make an account with support and make a ticket.

You can't even email them?

The ticket system is pretty much the same as an Email system.

Oh dear god no.

Email is terrible and I spent a better part of 3 years trying to convince one of our applications gropu that managing helpdesk calls with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ inbox was not what it was designed to do. We have a fully fleshed out ticketing system with tracking, SLA, group assignments, reporting etc. And they STILL woudln't use it. I literally just turned off their inbox and forced them to use the ticketing system.

But as far as the end user is concerned, writing and submitting a ticket and waiting for reply, and writing and sending an email and waiting for reply, is pretty much the same experience. Which is what I was getting at.

Do they not have a phone number? Say what you want about EA, but I have never had this issue with Origin.

No. 8 million customers can't get through a phone line. Origin doesn't have this issue because they don't have nearly the same amount of customers.

Well shouldn't they get more people then? I can contact Amazon and I'll get a response usually within a day.

No. Amazon is a different type of company. Valve runs their stuff differently. The long support times are a user created issue stemming from the scam links.

My problem is I can't even get through to someone. There's no email, no phone, no help desk.

Right. There are 8 million customers. Steam only has around 350 employees. They are a privately owned company. Your only option is Steam Support. Be patient they will get to you.

Shouldn't they have more employees then? I'm sure there could afford it with everything that they make. It's not like Valve is making new games.
