I'm ashamed to have not started Alien Isolation yet. I got a code for it when I bought a new GPU, and I've heard it's amazing, but I've never been in the mood to play it.
My current technique is to target the short games first, shrinking my backlog and making it look less intimidating. Also, since I never consider a game truly "finished" until I have all the achievements, if the game has achievements, I target achievement-less games first.
I'm also ashamed of the number of games I'm in the middle of, but just can't bring myself to play. They consist of:
Afterfall Insanity
Borderlands 2
Cloudbuilt
Expeditions: Conquistador
Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior's Rise
Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae
Orcs Must Die! 2
Pound of Ground
Puddle
Rock of Ages
The Swapper
Zen Bound 2
I'm with ya!
Part of the struggle for me is that I used to love k/m rpgs and I was good at gaming [or at least decent] but now I am painfully slow and can't sit at a computer for more than a few minutes unless it's a controller-based game where I can move around more and not get stiff joints or hurt my wrists so much.
Some, I had to give up because I couldn't do the platforming at all :( It really sux cuz I thought Darksiders was amazin' but I just can't do the jumping puzzles. I'm completely stuck and frustrated.
I bought Skyrim on a sale awhile back and I thought I would love it like I did Morrowind, and less so, Oblivion. I've tried four times now to get into it and I just can't :( I know it is a superior game but it's like I can't get sucked into it for some reason?
I made it through Bioshock I but not II, yet and I have Bioshock Infinity in the queue.
I may not have as many games as other people but I am struggling to get through what I DO have plus I have another 30 games on GOG of which I've played about 10.
I think part of me now resists game that seem "too big" and are sandbox-y because they feel so endless?
So I empathize. I really do! The shame of it all *big sigh*
Oh and Borderlands is on sale and looks like a lot of fun so I am considering it, too...
Whatchoo think? Borderlands 2 GOTY is on for only $10?
I think targeting the short games is a good idea! I might try that one out. How do I find out which games are shorter [besides the obvious?]
I'm stuck in the middle with you *lol* on quite a number of games I seem unable to finish.
I never cared about completionism or achievements so I feel for ya if you're worrying about that on top of just finishing up the backlog.
Dunno but I think the point is to help each other play through our backlogs of games?
