"slow motion" sound problem with external audio interface
Since I am using my external audio interface "Balance" by propellerhead i have those weird slow motion sound in almost every game if I don't use the audio standards "2 channel-16 Bit-44100 Hz in Windows 8.1.. The problem even then is, that I have to change my audio setup to higher quality when i would like to hear just music or watch a movie, because otherwise the sound quality is not so good and sometimes stuttering. With music I usually use "2 channel-24 Bit-96000 Hz" but this causes slow motion sound in games...

Anybody having a solution?

I start to think it is not game. Please post your specs of your computer.

I'm pretty sure it's a problem between general computer games and audio setup, it has nothing to do with my computer.

Come on. It is how community working but to me I don't think it has do something with game, it is hardware. So unless you want my help, I will need know specs of your system.

This is no joke. It was never game, never was. I have game one you list and it is not sound internal problem. Name your sound card and specs system. It can be your external sound card but I can't help unless you work with me.

I now put the sound to "studio quality" but remained at 16 bit. It works. Seems to be a problem with 24 bit and more...

Soundcard: Propellerhead Balance
Intel Core i7-3770K CPU
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680

Well I don't know, because on the one hand, i can't use my studio monitors without the soundcard because of missing right INs and OUTs and on the other hand I think my built in soundcard can't use that high quality studio sound. But i try to find that out! Thank you!

I think i found out, what's the problem:
Some games seem to only work with 44100 Hz audio. 16 bit, 24 bit, or 32 bit plays no role. Right now I run 32 bit audio with 44100 Hz and everything is perfect in portal 2. But if I change it to 32 bit 96000 Hz it' s slow motion sound again.

I think finally it would help to solve this audio problem in general, if everybody who attended this discussion would try out those different sound options I mentioned and tells what happens then with the sound on his system during the game.
