Has anyone used Gamesave Manager before?
I've been asking questions about how to back up saves recently. What I want to know is a way to make sure that I don't lose, say, a 100+ hour Skyrim save file when I update my motherboard.

I've been told you could just put it on a large enough USB otherwise to use this program, GSM. Has anyone used it before, and does it do what it implies in an easy to use manner? I want to be able to keep my game saves, at least a few of them, without major issues with attempting to use them again. I'm not concerned about having to redownload a game, I just want to be able to keep my game saves.

Oh, wow, I totally blanked on the Steam cloud. I was reading somewhere in the forums, no link sorry, in which someone was having problems using the Steam cloud to back up the actual saves.

All I need is to make sure I don't lose that save data. So if the Steam cloud works, that'll do for now since I don't have too many games I'm concerned about.

Unless you mess it up and a program you've installed messed it up, you can rely on it.

Yeah, my main concern is just a few game saves. I'm getting a new mobo, and reinstalling my OS, and I just need to be sure that it is going to work beforehand.

It backs up save data. That's what it does. It doesn't back up too much.

It does. I think there may have been an issue when trying to restore saves using different versions of the program... pretty sure that's covered in the faq on the GSM site.
I never trust any game's internal save system, Steam cloud, or game saving program. I always do manual backups of each game save I have that I care about. Been burned far too many times by other systems. My save folders on the desktop never fail me as long as I know where to put the saves should they get corrupted or lost. :)

Finding the save locations is another matter, it can be a pain in the tush.

You could just use this program to locate the files, then back them up manually yourself.

Yeah, I could do this as well as Steam Cloud. I'll be basically wiping my system so, just anything that gives me the few saves I want. I won't cry about it if I do happen to lose my data, but, it'd be nicer if it worked!
