Battery Calibration for laptops

I know the basic elements of a Battery Calibration involve

1. charge fully
2. discharge (100-0%
3. recharge fully

What Im not clear on is do these have to be continuous for a Laptop. While in any of the steps can it be okay to use the computer, or even to close the lid and open it again. Or does it all have to be a continuous charge/discharge without interuption in any form.

Read about the right handling for your type of battery.
100 - 0% might be wrong.
Also keeping it loading is not good.
