Copy some settings to another family account?
On my PC, I have my primary account that I buy all my games on. Then I also have 3 other family accounts that I share my games with for the other members in my family.

In my account, I have imported a lot of non-Steam games and apps, plus I've set up a bunch of categories and categorized all of my games. This took quite a bit of time to set up. Unfortunately, none of that translates over to the other family accounts on the same PC.

Does anyone know where the settings are stored for the data of my non-Steam game imports, and categories, so that I could copy those over to the other accounts without destroying other things, like saved games and achievements?

You cant copy over achievements and most of your save games are outside of the steam folder or in the steamapps/common/game name folder. You can try and copy over the steam files not including the steamapps folder/steam.exe and clientregistry.blob. Copy everything else over apart from those 2 files and 1 folder then restart steam on the pc you want the updates to show on.

I think you misunderstood what I'm asking. The other family accounts are on the same PC. I just want to copy those settings from my account over to the other accounts that are on the same PC. I have a different profile on our PC for each person in the family, and I just want them to have the same non-Steam imported games, and categories that I set up.

If its on the same pc do you have more than 1 username in the steam folder?

You dont copy any games over, you want the shortcuts and categories to show up. To get all that info to show up on another account on another pc that would have been the method so the info is hanging around in 1 of those files and when others have done this before it works.

If anyone is interested, I looked through all of my Steam folders, and think I figured out what I needed. Each user has their own folder named with an ID number in the Steam/userdata folder.

To copy categories to a different user, find your user ID folder, and find Steam/userdata/your user folder/7/remote/sharedconfig.vdf. Copy that file over to the same location in the other accounts' folders. You may want to make a backup of those files before you copy over them, just in case something goes wrong.

To copy the settings for your imported games over to other accounts on the same PC, go to your user's ID folder, and find Steam/userdata/your user folder/config/shortcuts.vdf. Copy that file over to the same location in the other users' folders. If you have made custom icon graphics for each imported game, they will be in a folder called Steam/userdata/your user folder/config/grid. Copy that folder over to the same location in the other users' folders, too.
