[Really Need Help!] Steam Signed Me Out, Uninstalled my games and downloaded all the files to my dekstop

I Was signed out of steam when I turned my pc on, found I needed a 4 digit code because I "haven't logged in with this pc before" (which I have). After hours of waiting for the email I enter it, only for steam to install on my desktop and not recognise me as a user, so I had to sign in again. All my games have been uninstalled, I cant move these damn files from my desktop, and I'm very tempted to return to my xbox after years on PC. I signed out and signed in again after moving the files to a folder and they just downloaded again! All my games are taking ages to download (even though I read online they should take seconds)

This is really stressing me out, PLEASE can someone help?

this type of thing happens when you copy the Steam.exe file to the desktop, then double-click it, rather than creating a shortcut to it's original location.

either make sure Steam.exe from your desktop is deleted or moved back to it's original location (must be there), then get rid of the rest of the files on your desktop to do with Steam.

Start Steam from the exe in it's original location, then create a shortcut for your desktop.
