Get (=buy) Steam keys (not giftcopies) for giving away?
Hey.

I'd like to hold a raffle or something similar in my live stream and I want to give away a few games.
For this I'd need steam KEYS instead of giftcopies so I can show the key during the stream (first one snagging the key gets the game) or to send keys to winners via PM in chat or the likes and they can just activate the game.

For that purpose Steam giftcopies are unpractical since I'd need to befriend every reciepient of a game first, which I don't really want to do....

tl;dr: How can I buy keys instead of giftcopies for the inventory to give away games?

Well you could always just use the steamgifts site if it's going to be like a raffle on your stream so you won't need keys. Or you could buy Steam keys for games you'd like to give out by buying from other sites like bundle stars, humble bundle etc as they give you keys to redeem.

You don't need to befriend anyone. Just send the gifts via email.

Thanks for your answers, but it doesn't really solve my problem.

Humble Bundle, etc. don't give out the actual keys anymore, you need to link your account and redeem the gift.

Sending via e-mail is also not the best of options.

I'd really just love the option of putting a key somewhere, some one else can enter/activate it and everyone's happy.

Another usage is posting an image with some keys hidden in it, and the people who find them first can join the game.

// EDIT
There has to be a way, as many live-shows do exactly that, get keys for the games and give them out using whatever way they can imagine....

That's the question, where?

Retail stores. Key stores. Steam doesnt sell keys.

Hm, would have to check if retailers like GameStop sell keys only.... online key stores I'm a bit wary about, hence my hope there'd be a Steam-direct way (also those key stores would need to get their key from somewhere....).

Well, thanks for the input, I'll try my luck at said stores.

They sell keys only and they come with a free retail box and dvd. There is no "direct steam way".

Nicely phrased, but the CD/DVD boxes you usually buy at retailers do not always contain Steam keys, so that option is basically not on option.

// EDIT
Great, and the Key-Stores I just checked don't have the games I need....

There HAS to be a way, others are doing it, so....

Check the boxes. They will say "REQUIRES STEAM" on the box for the steamworks titles.

You don't need to befriend anyone.

Just press send gift in the inventory and paste in the email of the winner and you are done.

You can hold the raffle on http://steamgifts.com/ and then you see the email of the winner and just send the gift from your inventory to that email adress and bam. No need to add people.

Steamgifts even has a feature where you can enter the key into the page and the winner will get it automatically.
