Free audio enhancers?
I'm using a basic PC at the moment and the audio sounds really bland and off balance. Does anyone know some free equaliser programs or something? Just to dress up the sound abit like the astro equalizers you get with the headphones.
Ty.

You can put lipstick on a pig but it will still be a pig. What I mean is, if your sound quality is crappy, get a decent sound card.

I'm looking for an equalizer not studio quality audio. The sound is clear, it's just very bland. I'm looking for a program that has presets so I can play around with the settings and find something that sounds good.

Astro doesn't dress up your existing audio, it is it's own audio if it is any of the USB ones, as those have their own Sound Chipset & Driver, doesn't use existing audio.

What audio do u have? If onboard, what Desktop Motherboard (or Laptop model#) is it?

A majority of products have "Realtek HD" and for those, while Windows has a built-in Driver already, it's not the correct one. It's a limited one, and just allows those audio to function in a "so-so" manner. If you install the full official Driver made for the audio u have, it should provide u with App(s) and functions for boosting the audio as well as full equalizer, etc.

Ah, well. Doesn't your driver's control panel applet offer something? Is your audio device from Realtek by any chance?

I mentioned astro for the presets they have. The PC uses IDT High Definition Audio. I'm not looking for 'better' audio, just software to tweek what I have already so it sounds better.

There arn't any built in features to change anything.

Is this Desktop or Laptop?
Again which model? As with IDT Audio, those drivers only come from the maker of the motherboard.

If you want better audio then I would suggest a USB Headset + Razor Surround App

IDT may have features to change, but often times those are within Windows Playback Device / Settings

It's a Dell Inspiron 17r 7720 laptop. Using headhpones rather than speakers for audio. There are no features to change how the audio plays. I made the thread to find a free program that can change how your audio sounds. My audio is all installed and running as it should, I just don't like the sound of it.

I would double check Playback Settings > then click the active device > Properties and look through those tabs there. Often there is an equalizer preset option in there.

If not, try this > http://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo

In case u do need any Drivers, they are here > http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-17r-se-7720/drivers
