Is it possible to use the 1st Party Gamecube Wii U Adapter to use a GC Controller with Steam?
So, I was wondering if there was some way to get a GC Controller to work with Steam. ( I know developers would have to make it work, but couldnt mods be used to add necessary files?) Basically, people have made it possible for the adapter to work with stuff like the Dolphin Emulator, and I wanted to know if it could be used for Steam. I dont have an Xbox/PS controller and am much more used to the gamecube controller, so thats why Im asking. Thanks.

you could use something like this to plug in, but most programs probably wouldn't recognize it. You could try a program like motionjoy (sp?) to bind controls to it.

Well, the gamecube controller does not have the ability to plug into a computer. So, long story short; No you can not use a gamecube controller on PC. You will need to buy a PS3 or Xbox 360 controller for your PC. Sorry, man.
Thats why I was talking about the adapters available for it and wondering if it was possible to mod not only the games but also the adapter to make it work. I know it proabably wouldn't be that effective, but I wanted to know anyways.

Actually, Ive downloaded all the programs needed, and I have gotten the official 1st Party adapter to work with Dolphin properly. Maybe its possible to mod Steam games to make them compatible? Dunno just a thought.

Ok, this may be a stupid question but…have you tried launching a Steam game and just using the controller? It's that simple with an Xbox 360/One controller; it may work with the GC controller.

LMK how it goes. I really like the look of the GC controller, but I would never surrender the convenience of an Xbox controller for it. Unless,of course, it offers that same convenience.

No it doesn't, the XBox360 and XBoxOne controllers are supported on PC, Nintendo does not provide drivers for Gamecube controllers on PC and does not support the controller on PC in any way.

Do you think using the vjoy programs that allow the adapter to work with dolphin could make it work with a steam game that has controls you change? I think you'd have to mod the game itself, but is that possible at all?

You could use this: https://bitbucket.org/elmassivo/gcn-usb-adapter/overview and combine it with this: https://github.com/x360ce/x360ce to make it appear to be a 360 controller for games. I haven't tried it myself so i don't know how convenient it is but.

Also keep checking back on this software : https://sites.google.com/site/wiinupro/home , the author might add support for the gamecube adapter and it is very easy to use and emulates 360 för wiiu pro controllers very easily.

Use the mayflash gamecube adapter, it supports dinput so if a steam game supports controllers you can use it, but if it only supports xbox controllers just use x360ce and it will convert the dinput to xinput which will trick it into thinking your gamecube controller is actually an xbox one :)

You just couldn't let it go a year without any posts, could you?
