Gifting banned games is allowed?

Hey everyone, can my brother send me GTA V as a gift? it is allowed where he lives but its not allowed here where I live. Will I be able to play the game? will it get removed? please tell me as soon as possible.

If the game has a region restriction then it will not play at all.

Even if it was gifted? What if I buy it from another country and then when I arrive back to my original country I wont be able to play it? I usually travel in summer.

If you play the game from the country it was bought in then yes you can play it, but if steam see your ip in another country with lets say a ban then i becomes unplayable until you leave.

I'll have to say: Steam Store saying "This item is unavailable in your region" doesn't always correlate to you not being able to redeem the gift or play them.

A friend of mine for whom The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim said that to, could still play the game as they had acquired it as a gift that wasn't regionlocked in their area.

If the copy is a global one, it should theoretically work. There's no cross-region restrictions unless the gifted copy itself says so. (Usually with South-East Asian copies when exported outside of that area.)

So that actually means that if my brother who lives in Africa gifts me the game by which he bought using steam wallet. I will be able to play it right?

Depends entirely on what the gift's description says. I'd assume not every African copy is a ROW or WW copy.
