Need to re install all my games. Can I avoid re downloading?
I have just upgraded my motherboard which I foolishly didn't realise meant I would have to do a clean install of Windows. This'll mean I'll have to re download all my games which makes me want to cry as I don't have fibre broadband and GTA5 takes nearly 2 days or download on my current broadband. I've backed up my entire hard drive with all the program files and save games. Is there any way of copying these to the new windows install to save me having to completely re download the full 500gb of games that I have in my library?

Yes, just follow this guide carefully: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129 Just skip the part about uninstalling Steam and so on.

Be sure to keep the backup untill you confirm that all games are working with the saves and everything.

Install steam then copy over all your files then follow this

. You;ll want to also restore your back up your "MY Documents" folder too. Games that use steam cloud will auto download your saves and some settings, but most games that don't use it store your saves and other info in there
