Is Buying From Steam Market Safe?

So I've been on Steam for a couple years. I'm really interested in the trading card system. It seems like a fun little hobby, but I've always avoided it.

I've heard about some people getting banned because they accidentally bought something that was fradulently purchased or something along those lines. I've also heard of people getting items they bought removed from their account because they ended up being stolen or something. What happens if someone buys a stolen card and immediately crafts it into a badge? Does Steam just remove the badge entirely?

I know now that Steam has recently added the whole commodity system so you're not picking and choosing who you're buying cards from now when it comes to most things.

Am I worried for nothing? Is there a risk at all of getting your account banned if you accidentally buy something from a bad account? I wanted to ask people who have had lots of experience using the market.

The market is safe. The problem is usually game gifts between countries, and game gifts are not marketable.

even in the event you get a fraudulent steam gift(this is what you vaguely hear about) you do not get in trouble as the receiver.

One other question, does buying from the market tend to get you odd friend requests from strangers? By strangers, I guess I'm mainly talking about spam accounts. I don't even play online with others and this is one of the first times posting on the forum. So I want to know what to expect with people on the market.

Really? My friend told me you could still find people you've bought/sold things to by checking your market history. Not sure if this is just more misinformation on my part.

they have to find you by name.

you are confusing trading with the market too much.
stay away from trade sites and groups.
do not add weak users and you be fine for spam.
I rarly get any check my profile I trade plenty.

In your market history is the buyers name but that means they already purchased your item.
