Help Me Please ASAP

So i downloaded Maplestory on Steam but when i try to launch it, it saids "Application Initialization Failed. This Application needs to be launched from Steam. Please try to launch again from Steam", I'm launching from steam so it doesnt make sense for it to pop this message up. I also tried changing the time on my computer clock, reloging, run steam as administrator but non of these options work. I also cant download maplestory from nexon because my computer wont let me. Can someone help me? Thanks alot

Can you right-click on the shortcut for Maple Story, and confirm the "target" starts with something like "steam://rungameid/"?

So yeah, it is trying to run it with Steam. This shouldn't be necessary, but have you tried making sure Steam is running before you launch Maple Story? Also, have you tried refreshing/reinstalling Steam?

yeah, im not sure if i want to reinstall steam tho, it might just be a waste of time, it happened on my old computer so i had to play maplestory on nexon, but now i cant download nexon..

Out of curiousity, why can't you download from Nexon?

I cant download nexon launcher, my computer isnt compatible with Microsoft VC++. whatever that is

Microsoft Visual C++ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_C%2B%2B). Now just to be sure, your computer cannot run Microsoft Visual C++, or doesn't have the correct version? Because there's a big difference. What operating system are you using?

Windows 8.1 definitely supports Microsoft Visual C++. It would be helpful to know which version of Visual C++ the game requires. Based on a quick search, it appears to use Visual C++ 2010.
