Cant connect to cloud? Help! Cant play any of my games!
So I try and launch either TF2, or Fallout new vegas, and it says I cannot connect to the cloud and if i continue all progress may be lost. I have restarted my computer and it still says the same thing! Help?! I am running windows 8.1, it was working an hour ago when i was playing new vegas. What do I do?!

You won't have to restart only go back one play session worth of play time.

you go to your fallout files and copy over your fallout save file to your harddrive.

The data is always stored on your HDD; from there on it's uploaded to Steam Cloud after exiting the executable.

Therefore, your HDD files are usually up-to-date; whereas Cloud data might end up obsolete (should the upload fail for whatever reason.)

You should not download and overwrite your local files with Cloud -files most of the time. The client should tell you which ones are the newer ones anyway, but if you always play on the same computer, the local ones are the newer ones 99% of the time.

You can always turn off Steam Cloud from Fallout: New Vegas by right mouse clicking the game on your library, heading to [Properties] -> <Updates> -> *untick* Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Fallout: New Vegas.

Should you reformat your PC or use someone else's computer, you should tick it back and launch and exit the game once so it'll upload your local files to Cloud again.

Fallout: New Vegas' save-files are located at
C:\Users\<Username>\My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Saves

Where ever you want. Make a new file just to contain save files if that makes it easier for you.

Thankyou! so one last question, i just clicked off the enable steam cloud on the game, it works! however when I save now, will the files be safe? I mean do they now automatically save to my HDD?

The files are stored in the local folder at C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Saves\

You can back them up manually; but alternatively you can tick Steam Cloud and keep uploading the save files there later on. Usually stick to your HDD -data if there's a conflict with the HDD & Cloud -data synchronizations.

But yes, they're safe - unless you reformat your computer.

Team Fortress 2 mostly saves its information on the multiplayer servers; whatever it stores on Steam Cloud can be found on your HDD at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<userID>\440\remote\

But I'd personally say you don't have to tinker around with that. Keep them on the Cloud.

This cloud bull is getting annoying. Any word on what steam is doing? Are they aware? Do they care? I just wanna upload some skyrim shots but my whole library (screenshots) is AWOL now since lunch.

at this point I do not use the cloud, sync times can get REALLY annoying
