Trading Cards?

Ok so I've been playing skyrim for a long time now, i got it when it came out, and i have to ask, i just got a new item in my steam inventory that's some sort of trading card or soemthing? And it says its from skyrim and its called Nordic Ruins, what is this, how did i get it, and what is it good for?

Hi, when you have enough of those cards, by earning in-game or buying them on the market. Those cards can be used to craft, where you can get items from it and earn XP for your steam account.

Hi, lol ok then i have one more question, I've been playing skyrim since it came out, why is this the first card Ive ever gotten, and why was it just now? I mean Im lvl 66 and i can take out armies of soldiers at once, and Ive finished the story line, the war story line, and the Dragonborn DLC, why now?

Well, those cards are given at any random time. http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards

Seemingly random, but actually seems to be a time based drop system set by the developer. A few developers actually set the drop rate to one every two hours (Wasteland 2). And wasteland 2 has like... 15 cards (8 drops). So you have to play for 14-16 hours before you can get them all.

The valuable cards are the ones for games with anime girls. Steam users really like their Waifu Wallpapers.

I do miss the days of the Trading Card Beta when you could easily get a dollar plus for a regular card.

Going back through my card sales history on the Market, nothing like selling a random card for a 1.20, or foils for 4-5 dollars.

you only have like an hour in skyrim. card drops for games usually every 30 mins to an hour, and if you play in offline mode then you don't get them.

Also, for obvious reasons, you must be playing in Online mode with Steam for it to count your hours and give you cards.
