I know steam doesn't care, I mean we are just customers but, FWIW, an easy way to stop these updates would be the considerate thing to do as it is a problem for some of us.
And on knowing the update size before I buy? Just no way to tell? .....anyone?
Will Steam listen and actually follow through with suggestions and if so where do I post those? If not, oh well. Seems a pretty simple thing to post the update size unless Steam thinks it will reduce sales on some games...hard to say why they don't already do that.
Thanks for your help, Sat
Get away from that expensive line. 10$ per gb...... Whats that? Satelite?
Steam really needs to stop forcing those on us, it makes no sense unless they have some way of profiting by making us download somethging I find I usually don;t really need. that or they are just mean /too lazy to make some simple changes.
Now if I can just figure out a way to find the downlad sizes "before" I buy the game, I'll be good to go. But since It would stop me from buying a game, I probably won't find the info. This has to be costing some game makers at least some profit when customers won't touch their games due to this issue.
Na, not Satelite, Muppet, but close....cell tower hot spot. Comcast and AT&T are huge cheats in my area so I get by fine on the the Sprint tower and for just $20 per month, with the exception of problems. like this. Hey, before I changes to another carrier, it was costing me $25 per gig and this game would have cost me right at $100 to play, not to mention purchase price.
Thanks again and maybe next time I'll just try asking here for udate sizes before I buy.
Try to find a netcontract with a flat rate. Look at it this way: You wasted 20$ for an update of a game.
Even if a flatrate would cost 20$ more, you would have a whole month of free downloads left now!
I really shouldn't have to pay more for a service, no one should when Steam could easily fix this but, I know. it just won't happen.
Oh well., maybe one day they will wake up and get on the ball. and until then I can play any game from any of the others just not Steam so, no biggie.
And no, Valve is not resopnsible for the size of the updates, did I say that...why would anyone even think that? However, they are responsible for forcing them on the customer...which if you read carefully is my only gripe. Putting words in my mouth/blaming the victim won't make the problem go away but whatever floats your boat.
Being forced to download outragously large updates is still rediculous. and I seriousely doubt I'm the only one who thinks so.. Origin and others don't require it, that in itself should tell you there is actually something too what I'm saying...simple logic.
It's not the end of the world for anyone and up to steam if they want to respond to the issue or not. Maybe those in the same shoes as I are such a minority steam doesn't care but it's such a needless thing to do to people/makes so little sense, unless it's somehow profitable for steam... I thought it worth the mention and always will....Hope no one minds too much. :)
